Background Informations:
On 28 August 2005 the State Post Bureau will issue a one-piece set of commemorative stamp, "The 100th Anniversary of the Chinese Cinema", at a total face value of 0.80 yuan. The picture on the stamp is entitled "The 100th Anniversary of the Chinese Cinema".
Ever since the premiere of Dingjun Mountain in 1905, the development of Chinese movies has gone through a hundred years of difficulties and hardships. Many classic movies shot during this period still glimmer with radiance. In the past century, the Chinese movies recorded the vicissitudes and enormous changes of China in the modern history in different perspectives. Generations of the Chinese people grew up with these movies, thier lives deelly influenced and affected by them. Spreading the Chinese culture around the world in a unique manner, Chinese movies are moving toward the peak of the world movie art with their great charm and fine artistic quality, to the pride of the Chinese people. The year 2005 marks the 100th anniversary of the Chinese cinema, and a new milestone in its development.
