Background Informations:

On 18 September 2005, the State Post Bureau will issue a four-piece set of special stamps, "Fanjing Mountain Nature Reserve", with a total face value of 3.20 yuan. The pictures of stamps are respectively entitled: "Golden Summit", "Mushroom Rock", "Broadleaf Forest", and "Heiwan River".

The Fanjing Mountain, a well-known moutain in Southwest China, is located in Tongren,Guizhou Province. It is the main peak of Wuling Mountain Range, 2570.5 meters above sea level. As one of the areas with best-preserved subtropical forest ecosystem around the world,Fanjing Mountain is home to many species of ancient and rare trees and rare birds and animals like Guizhou Golden Monkeys. It was listed b UNESCO into the global "man and biosphere" nature reserve directory in 1986. The reserve, vibrant with life, boasts deep valleys, perilous peaks, strange-shaped rocks, winding streams, steep cliffs surrounded by clouds, lush plants and sky-reaching trees. Fanjing Mountain, a sacred site of Buddhism since ancient times, has numerous relics such as temples and steles with Buddhist libretto.
