Background Informations:
On 30 October 2006, the State Post Bureau issued a one-piece
set of commemorative stamp, entitled "The 15th Anniversary of Establishing Dialogue Relaion Between China With ASEAN ", with a total face value of 0.8yuan.The picture on the stamp are named "The 15th Anniversary of Establishing Dialogue Relaion Between China With ASEAN".
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations(ASEAN)was established on Augest 8,1967 in Bangkok.At present,there are ten member countries,namely,Brunei Darussalam,Cambodia,Indonesia,Laos,Malaysia,Myanmar,Philippines,Singapore,Thailand and Vietnam.The ASEAN region covers an area of 4.5 million square kilometers with a population of abou 550 million,and the combined gross domestic product reaches US$737 billion,Papua New Guinea is an observer.In 1991,China established dialogue relations with the ASEAN.And in1966,China became a full dialogue partner.In 2003,China and the ASEAN established a strategic partnership for peace and prosperity.Over the past 15 years,based on the spirit of "equality,mutual trust and win-win cooperation",China and ASEAN have come a long,unusual way-from removing misgivings to starting dialogue,to promoting mutual trust and finally establishing the strategic partnership-and have made dramatic advances in the fieds of politics,security and economy.
From October 30 to November 3 in 2006,the Commemorative Summit Marking the 15th Anniversary of ASEAN-China Dialogue Relations,the China-ASEAN Expo and the China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit were held in the Nanning International Conference and Exhibition Center,Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.The Commemorative Summit was the first important meeting held in China and attended by leaders from the ten ASEAN countries.The two sides reviewed the development and experience of China-ASEAN relations in an all-round way,had a high opinion of positive results achieved by the two sides in different fields,looked forward to and planned future development between the two sides,and committed to join hands in furthering peace,accelerating developmeng,sharing prosperity and promoting the China-ASEAN strategic partnership.Leaders signed the Joint Statement of China-ASEAN Commemorative Summit,the second one between China and the ASEAN since the China-ASEAN Joint Statement for Establishing the Partnership of Good-neighborliness and Mutual Trust was released in 1997.The summit was a milestone in promoting China-ASEAN Free Trade Area.China-ASEAN relations are a fine example of Chian's dialogue partners,and have played an important role in safeguarding peace,stability and prosperity in Asia.
