On 30 December 2006, the State Post Bureau issued a one-piece
set of commemorative stamp, entitled "The 110th Anniversar of China Post's Foundation ", with a total face value of 1.2yuan.The picture on the stamp are named "The 110th Anniversar of China Post's Foundation".
As an important infrastructure of a society,postal service plays a significant role in politics,economy,cultural exchange and people's life.On March 20,1896,approved by Emperor Guangxu(r.1875-1909)of the Qing Dynasty(1644-1911),the Qing Post was formally established.Over the years,China's postal service has experienced the Qing Post,the Post of the Repubic of China and the Post of New China;postal service advances as the society progresses.On March 1,1914,China formally joined the Universal Postal Union.In 1934,China's postal service was united,and the state owned the post and communication market.After New China was founded in 1949,China's postal service ushered in a new page.On November 1,1949,the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications was set up to administer the postal service all over the country,and decided to name the service the Post of the People's Republic of China("China Post").Since the reform and opening-up policies were implemented,China Postal has been developing in a continuous,rapid and healthy way.The Postal Law,the first of its kind of New China,came into effect on January 1,1987.After the State Post Bureau was set up in 1998,China's postal service started independent operation,and the communication capability has been greatly enhanced,technology and equipmeng improved continuously,the range of business expanged,great achievements made,service improved and cooperation and exchange with foreign countries strengthened. China has opened up a road of postal development with Chinese characteristics.From August 23 to September 15,1999,the 22 Universal Postal Union Congress was held in Beijing.At present,the one-way delivery route in rural areas is 3.565 million km,and the number of delivery routes in urban areas reaches 48,000.In 2005,the industry had revenue of 57.72 billion yuan.In 2006,in line of separating the government administrative function from business operation,China Post Group Corporation was established,which operates its business independently and under the supervision of the government according to law.It has reformed it principal business,set up a Postal Bank,further promoting the development of the Chinese post service.
