Background Informations:
On April 13,2008, China National Philatelic Corporation issued a first-day cover titled "Boao Forum·Hainan" and bearing a two-piece set of special stamps with a total face value of 2.40 yuan. The pictures on the stamps are the Dongyu Island and the Site of Boao Forum for Asia, respectively.
Founded in 2001, the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) is a non-government, non-profit international organization. It has grown into a high-level forum for leaders in government, business and academia in Asia and other continents to share visions on the most pressing issues in this dynamic region and the world at large. Since 2002, the Forum has been held annually in Boao, Hainan Province, and the BFA International Conference Center on the nearby Dongyu Island is the permanent site. As the Forum brings new opportunities to Hainan, the seaside city of Boao has served as a bridge linking Hainan with the world and become an epitome of Hainan's reform and opening-up, and economic achievements since the province was established 20 years ago.
